So what's is the big deal with Apple Pencil? Well, a bit hard to say before you actually test it your self.

Lets first talk about what's the technology:

Tilt sensitivity: A tilt sensetivity stylus is new to the iPad. It have never had it before.
Pressuere sensitivity: This have been done before by Wacom, but it stopped working witht he iPad Air 2 because of something Apple did with it.
Touch: Well duh! But we do have to talk about it because you can get a pen for 2 bucks that you can use on any tablet. These cheap pen are usufull for pointing and clicking, but when you start to draw, there wear and tear goes pretty fast depending on their quality.

So the big question is... is this a fair competition to Wacoms Cinitq tablets? Their price seems to be, but even with no stress test I guess it will fall flat when it comes to accuracy. Wacoms tablets, (even the cheap once), are pen to paper feel. There is no distance between the pixel and the pen. While using the iPad, this is the obvious downside. You can even see it in their presentation of the Apple pencil:

So why do I have iPad Air home and a Wacom Creative stylus? Mobility and price. The iPad Air + Wacom Creative Stylus is half price if you wanted a  Cinitq tablet, and you can do a lot more with it in daily use. And I'm not a pro, I just draw for fun.

The Cinitq tablet on the other hand is just screen that is connected to the full power of you computer. So you can run Photoshop, 3D studio Max, Maya. While the ipad can only use apps, which usually are "dumd" down versions.

But I look forward to check the new iPad pro with the Apple Pencil out. I belive it will be popular, but if you want to go pro a Wacom tablet is the way to go. You get them from $99 - $3000.

And the only fatal flaw is that it's made by Apple, thus rendering it useless unless you're a hipster. :P
